The Finnish-British Chamber of Commerce and His Excellency, Ambassador Jukka Siukosaari warmly welcome you to our event on Sustainability as the Key to Industries of the Future, on Monday 7th November, at the Residence of the Ambassador of Finland

The event offers you an opportunity to hear from and talk to our panel of speakers from front-line companies and discuss sustainability across various fields of business. The panel discussion shall be followed by Q&A, networking, and refreshments.

The event is free of charge for FBCC members.

 

The panelists are:

 

Tom Samson, CEO, Rolls-Royce SMR

Tom Samson is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rolls-Royce SMR Limited. He has over 30 years of experience in the power industry in various senior-level executive positions in the UK and internationally. Tom began his career as a Chartered Engineer at GEC Alstom designing combined cycle gas fired power plants before joining Marubeni Corporation where he helped them grow their global power portfolio and undertook a number of CEO and Board level assignments across that portfolio in the UAE and USA.

 Tom’s first major role in the nuclear industry came when he joined ENEC in the UAE as the Chief Operating Officer where he helped establish Nawah Energy as the operator of Barakah, the first nuclear power plant in the region before returning to the UK as CEO and Board member at NuGeneration Ltd, which was responsible for developing a new nuclear power station at Moorside in Cumbria. 

 In early 2020 Tom joined Rolls-Royce to lead their SMR Consortium and is the CEO and Board Member of Rolls-Royce SMR Limited.

 

 

Phil Siveter, CEO, Nokia UK and Ireland

Phil Siveter is the CEO for Nokia UK&I.  Phil joined Nokia in 2017, bringing with him over 20 years of leadership experience in the communications industry.  Previously Phil worked for Ciena, where he set up a successful Public Sector business, before which he spent several years at BT, holding numerous senior leadership roles.  Drawing on a strong experience in Public Sector & Enterprise markets, Phil works closely with customers and partners to deliver critical services across the country, and is also responsible for Nokia’s partners and alliances in the UK&I.   Having held advisory roles for the ‘Beyond Boyle Foundation’ and ‘Social Enterprise, Berkshire’, Phil is a keen advocate of the social enterprise model and uses this experience to drive open and inclusive leadership, in his role at Nokia

 

 

Mika Paljakka, Senior Vice President, Metsä Tissue UK and Ireland

Mika Paljakka is Metsä Tissue’s Senior Vice President in UK & Ireland region, appointed 2021, and a member of Metsä Tissue’s Management Team. Metsä Tissue is part of Metsä Group, a large Finnish forest industry group that operates in international markets and is a forerunner in sustainable bioeconomy. Prior to his current role, Mika has held several leadership positions in Metsä Group, since joining in 2000, covering Sales, Human Resources, and Business processes. Mika’s varied roles within the Group have given him an excellent view of all aspects of Metsä’s value chain from the forest to end user, and are a great enabler for leading Metsa Tissue’s upcoming significant investment planned in the UK.
