Solo Exhibition -Maiju Tirri

Maiju Tirri, (1970) is a contemporary artist from Finland, living and working in Spain. She paints abstractions of experiences she absorbs and collects from the nature. The principal theme in her art is impressions of scenes from walks and journeys, and the paintings are stories of those experiences.
The wildness, mercilessness and, on the other hand, harmony of the nature meet the human senses in Tirri’s works. The relationship between man and nature are reflected in the large, rough, but at the same time sensual paintings. When immersed in the painting, the viewer can wander about both on the surface and beneath it and perhaps stumble on surprises along the way. You may feel the temptation to see beyond the rich layers of colour and structure and to look both to the past and to the future.
Maiju’s art is strongly 3 dimensional and some of them are almost like sculptures. She uses acrylic paints and mixed media in her works and her technique is absolutely unique and therefore also so interesting.
She has had various exhibitions around Europe. She has been invited to have her next solo exhibition in Gibraltar, by the Ministry of Culture.
Venue: Gallery Cadogan Contemporary, Old Brompton Road, South Kensington LONDON / UK

A special Genesis Conference on alternative sources of funding for micro and SME businesses

Alternative sources of funding for micro and SME businesses: A two hour presentation and Q and A session with specialist business credit providers.
By the end of the conference delegates will have a comprehensive understanding of the alternative sources for funding now available to micro businesses and SME’s.
This invitation is to member associations of the Genesis Initiative AND their members. Numbers are limited and will be allocated as far as practicable across the commercial spectrum until capacity has been reached.
BACKGROUND PAPER
The Genesis Initiative comprises over 110 trade associations representing a wide range of micro and SME businesses.
A topic which over the past five years has come up time and again in our meetings both at Senate and with the Bank of England (half yearly) is the difficulty of getting appropriate credit.
The mainstream banks have over that period reduced lending to the micro and SME sector by an estimated 40%. In many cases where lending is available it has taken the form of the cancellation of overdrafts and the imposition of loans and security which are not workable for the borrower.
During this period however there has been steady growth in sources of alternative credit which are workable and robust.
One of our members is the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers: http://www.nacfb.org. We have been discussing with the Association’s CEO, Adam Tyler, how we might use his Association’s expertise to put on a conference for our members to give them a basic toolbox of how to access credit from these alternative sources.
We feel sure that our trade association members and their members in turn will benefit from this information.
There will be a panel of speakers drawn from sources of alternative finance who will each give a short presentation and then the meeting will be open to questions so as to deal with the actual concerns of delegates.
We have been fortunate in obtaining the services as chair of the meeting Ann Marie Morris MP who is also chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Micro Businesses and who has quickly established a reputation as a tireless champion of small business.
